Information have that Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna state has imposed a dusk to dawn curfew on Kujama, Mararaban Rido in Chikun and Kajuru local government areas (LGA)
This came through after the area for some weeks had experienced disorderliness disturbing movements and other social-economic activities of the good people of Kajaru.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the state governor, Mr Samuel Aruwan, said that the 6pm to 6am curfew takes immediate effect. “The curfew in the affected areas will be in effect from 6pm to 6am daily, until further notice,”
The curfew became necessary as Kajaru and its neighboring communities have been faced with reprisal attacks. It will be recalled that about 140 people were killed during the postponed presidential and National Assembly elections
Also, reports indicated that a day after the March 9, 2019 gubernatorial and house of assembly elections, not less than 17 people were killed in Ungwar Barde, a community in Kajuru local government area.
The imposition of a dusk to dawn curfew in all parts of Kajuru local government area, starts from today, Wednesday, 13th March 2019. The dusk to dawn curfew is also extended to Kujama and Maraban Rido, all in Chikun local government of the state.
The Kaduna state government however, appeals to all residents and communities in the affected areas to cooperate with the decisions, as such imposition was to restore peace in the area.
To maintain law and order, security agencies have been directed towards the affected areas to maintain strict enforcement of the curfew.
